Ringworm Home Remedies Are Inexpensive and Good for Your Skin

Ringworm in Humans

Ringworm home remedies are a very good thing to have when your pet or your child turns up with a bout of ringworm. Going to the doctor for antibiotics can be especially expensive, and usually isn’t necessary. Natural remedies are, in most cases, very effective at treating this type of skin fungus. If not, however, it is best to consult a doctor if the condition gets worse and isn’t helped by alternative medicine.

How do you get ringworm?

Contrary to popular belief, ringworm is actually not caused by a worm under the skin. It is actually a type of fungus that belongs to the family called Dermatophytes. This skin fungus infects the cells of both humans and animals, causing a dark ring to appear that is very itchy and often scaly looking. Like most types of fungi, ringworm (or Tinea) grows very well in warm and wet places. This is why it is easy to pick up in locker rooms, gyms, and other public places where people may bathe. Tinea can be transferred from direct contact with others who have it, or by indirect contact. It is very contagious. Sharing items such as clothing, towels, hairbrushes, and lotions can spread the fungus from one person to the next very easily, so it is best to avoid doing so.

What does ringworm look like?

Typically, ringworm manifests itself on the skin of one’s body, and on the scalp. When the scalp becomes infected, it is likely to last up to two weeks, while the skin usually only lasts 5-8 days with the condition. Untreated, however, it can worsen and cause skin to break and crack, becoming even more scaly and letting bacteria into the flesh, which can cause additional infections. If this happens, it is recommended that you see a doctor as soon as possible; tough antibiotics will be needed.

Natural Treatment for Ringworm
The good news is that there are dozens of effective and inexpensive home remedies for ringworm. Most of these remedies are derived from food sources, mainly fruits. Papaya is one such fruit. You can peel a papaya and rub the flesh over the infected area a few times per day, and the fungus should be killed in a few days. Mustard seeds, ground into a thick paste with garlic oil, is also extremely effective. Many people will combine natural remedies to get the most treatment, so you may consider using turmeric or coconut oil as well every other day in addition to papaya and mustard seeds. Find out which remedies work the quickest on your skin, and you will be able to reuse the method if the problem ever crops up again.

Old Home Remedies to Make in Your Kitchen

March 9, 2011 - 9:23 am No Comments

Old home remedies are historically significant pieces of the past that represent the way people used to live. Before common medicine was readily available, families got by with the help of natural home remedies that were passed down from generation to generation.

These herbal remedies are often referred to as “folk medicine”, and date back to the ancient Egyptians, or to the American pioneers who followed the Oregon Trail. Natural remedies were essential to the health and well being of each family member. These remedies were used to cure sicknesses, help with birthing and pregnancies, treat wounds, and prevent illness.

In today’s world, many people use natural recipes as preventative treatment and as cures for a variety of health issues. Some would argue that commercial medicine is over prescribed and over priced, and could possibly be replaced with a natural remedy that is just as effective. Old home remedies have almost no chemicals in them, and get their potency from the earth. They aren’t synthetically fabricated in labs and are, most of the time, quite safe to use.

One of the best things about old home remedies is that they can be made and stored easily in your home, and often cost very little. Did you know that a handful of almonds has the same amount of aspirin as two aspirin tablets? The next time you have a headache, fill your stomach with some of nature’s best nuts for a little relief.

Did you know that both garlic and clove oil are extremely effective pain relievers for toothaches? Both contain antibacterial properties to kill germs and stop the aching from a sore tooth. This is a much better solution than other liver damaging pain relievers! Natural medicines work wonders when it comes to human and pet health, and can save families lots of money with fewer doctors visits.

Discover how to make hundreds of old home remedies with natural ingredients that can be found in your kitchen! The Natural Home Remedies website is full of remedies and recipes for your health, skin and beauty care, and your pets.

what kinda home remedies you can use to clean your urine?

January 29, 2011 - 6:14 pm 6 Comments

I have a u.a. coming up and I want to know what kinda of home remedies I can take before the end of next week to have clean urine?

I had to have a piss test once for part of a job interview. What I did was take Ural a few times a day and I also took lots of legal drugs like peudoephadrine and codine. Because of all these legal drugs in my system they had to transfer my urine to the other side of the country for testing and it took a week instead of the usual day. It came back negative.

I’ve also heard that drinking a liter of vinegar helps, but I have never tried this one.

Are there home remedies for making grannys nausea go away?

January 26, 2011 - 9:50 am 4 Comments

Ok, no way to be pregnant. There are reasons for the nausea but I need to know if there are any home remedies that will make it go away. Do you know any thing?

peppermint. I work in a hospital and we sometimes use peppermint oil on cotton balls to scent the air in people’s rooms when they have nausea. You can get essential oil of peppermint at a health store, or try something cheaper from the grocery or drug store. You can also buy peppermint tea, but if she is really pukey- she probably would not want to drink anything.

What good home remedies are there for sensitive skin that breaks out often?

January 22, 2011 - 6:45 pm 6 Comments

I am asian, and I have acne (or actually… a few ‘remains’ of acne) but my skin continues to break out. Most of this is genetic, but are there any good home remedies to make zits ‘disappear’? I’ve heard of lemon juice… But my skin is kind of sensitive so I’m not sure how it will work.

My mom has suggested and she is wanting to buy Proactiv for me but she’s hasn’t gotten to it… but almost a year. I’m not allowed to go shopping by myself yet, so what inexpensive home remedies are there?

Thanks ^_^

With my experience with Proactiv, I wouldn’t recommend buying it. It didn’t do anything for me, and I used it exactly as directed. Test out some over the counter face washes. They sell make-up that covers and treats acne at the same time. Be careful with make-up because it only makes the situation worse.
